The Argentina international struggled to create an influence in his first season within the Premier League, scoring 4 goals in 32 appearances immediately after United broke the British transfer record to sign him for ￡59.7million from Real Madrid.
Di Maria was linked with a move away from Old Trafford through the 2014-15 season and speculation has continued over the summer time, most recently linking the 27-year-old using a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Van Gaal was asked about Di Maria’s future at a press conference in Seattle on Wednesday to mark the start off of United’s pre-season tour on the United states, and was unable to supply any certainty about his future either way.
“We shall see,” Van Gaal said of Di Maria, who is not part of United’s touring party as he’s on extended leave following spending part of the summer time playing for his country in the Copa America.
“In football, it is a process, as I’ve stated numerous times just before in press conferences. It’s not clear in one day.
“It’s a method for Angel Di Maria, it is a procedure for Manchester United and we shall see.
“But he’s nonetheless a member of Manchester United and he has said to me he will come on July 25.”
